Albany Update - OMIG, HHs, MRT, Affordable Housing

OMIG: I am a member of the OMIG workgroup that is working with OMIG to draw some parameters around OMIG practices. We are making progress – this seems to be a much more reasonable administration than the last one. Also, the community residence audit protocols are close to being finished. They have promised to bring me in before they are finalized.

MRT: Much has been happening on the Medicaid Redesign front: Go to www.health.ny.gov/health_care/medicaid/redesign There is a wealth of information on this website. I strongly urge you all go to it frequently for updates.

You will find all the latest reports including the Affordable Housing Report and the PowerPoint from the last full MRT meeting held this past Tuesday.

The Affordable Housing Workgroup published its final report. We were asked to deal with the entire Supportive Housing world in 2 meetings of 2 – 3 hours – an impossible task. Although we did make a number of recommendations, we asked that we be allowed to continue into 2012 to ensure that we deal with the many issues that the field faces. A small subset of examples includes capital development, scattered site development, eligibility issues, adequacy of rates and services, regulatory reform, timing of RFPs among different state agencies, risk……etc.

Send any problems/suggestions that you have….We will, hopefully, be meeting throughout the year.

Health Homes: The latest Health Home Webinar was held last week. The slides are posted on the DOH Website at: www.health.ny.gov/health_care/medicaid/program/medicaid_health_homes/meetings_webinars.htm
The full Webinar will also be posted at some point, so that you can “attend” as well. The first round of Health Homes with their network partners are posted. If you are supposed to be in one of these health Homes, and are not, contact them. If you are listed but didn’t know that you would be, also contact them. But it is better to be in than out.
