Disaster Mental Health Planning and Response Resources
In response to both natural and man made disasters the New York State Office of Mental Health has developed the following resources. In 2012 we will continue to expand our Internet resources to provide the citizens of New York State with the most up to date resources based on Evidence Based and Best Practices in the field of Disaster Mental Health.
All Hazard Resources/Pan Flu Resources This is a general link to a large variety of psycho-education literature and to numerous agencies and web sites that contain disaster mental health information.
Project Hope The New York State Office of Mental Health has created the Project Hope Crisis Counseling Program to assist individuals, families, and groups impacted by the disaster caused by August 2011 Tropical Storm Irene floods.
Project Renew The New York State Office of Mental Health has created the Project Renew Crisis Counseling Program to assist individuals, families, and groups impacted by the disaster caused by the September 2011 Tropical Storm Lee floods.
Psychological First Aid Psychological First Aid (PFA) serves today as one of the basic counseling tools that can be used by the general public in the aftermath an emergency or disaster.
Psychological First Aid On-Line Training Course This link will take you to the Department of Health's Learning Management System (LMS). You are encouraged to register as an LMS user and take the course. Follow the instructions in "Getting Started" to access the course.
